Scanex Image Processor® Software Updated to the 5.3 Version

08 December 2020

SCANEX Group presents a new version of one of the company's flagship products — ScanEx Image Processor® (SIP) v. 5.3 intended for photogrammetric and thematic processing of satellite images.

The SIP was developed by SCANEX specialists in 2004 and over the years has become one of the best-selling software for processing ERS images. The software is in demand not only in Russia but everywhere around the globe. SCANEX Group provides training courses for working with SIP aimed at specialists of all levels, beginners to advanced users. SCANEX has sold thousands of software licenses and trained hundreds of specialists over the last 16 years.

List of key enhancements and new tools in the 5.3 version.

New tools were developed:

·         Toolkit for estimating depth using extra-high resolution data integrated into the Modeling section;

·         Function to assess the classification quality in the ThematicPro module;

·         New features of the basic software version:

o    two new algorithms for improving the spatial resolution of multispectral imagery by pansharpening\fusion techniques;

o    several new resampling filters;

o    tool for raster creation using WMS layer data;

o    tool for multi-channel change detection redesigned and modernized using IR-MAD algorithm.

Several existing tools were improved:

·         Toolkit for atmospheric correction was expanded with:

o   option to adjust several rasters at the same time;

o   option to receive radiation measurements registered by the sensor;

    • tool to automatically determine water vapor and ozone parameters in the atmospheric model, as well as aerosol optical depth from MODIS (MOD and MYD) 08_D3 data;

o   tool to automatically determine the average height of raster image using etopo1 data;

o   settings for replacing original rasters with the resulting ones;

·         Tools for creating vector images & their color setting, as well as for working with control points and macros were improved

·         New features were added:

o    Upload of all raster channels in batch loading mode, setting up coordinates in first raster basis and output results in binary format via Raster Pixel Coordinates tool, numbering while preserving tiles;

o    Additional data compression methods when saving in GeoTiff format;

o    Hardware-accelerated vector graphics rendering using GPU (if the PC allows it).

The following data is now supported by the service:

·         Resurs-P and Canopus-B tiled raster data;

·         GeoTIF, DTED and BIL formats within the batch mode for SRTM DEM data;

·         Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 data (Level-2A, masks, conversion to sensor radiation measurements);

·         PostgreSQL/PostGIS vector data.

We updated the current libraries and made several technical adjustments:

·         Access to network drives via the dialog box for several rasters download was fixed;

·         Algorithm for generating isolines using rasters with many pixels and No-data values was improved;

·         Information on errors and successful operations will appear in the batch mode log file;

·         Rendering of rasters with numerous layers in the dialog box was accelerated;

·         Program behavior in case of raster reading errors, unsupported projections and automatic mapping of UTM zones was improved.

The program also has new features for configuring display settings of vector and WMS layers in dialog windows: now you are able to adjust separately their visibility and order via a new Display Settings tab.
