Geo-information systems and Earth observation from space have been increasingly used lately by federal and local authorities for economy planning, region development management, forecasting and mitigation of natural and technological disasters, as well as for damage assessments. For example, it is possible to detect river ice blocks in time only having multi-temporal images of this area handy. Therefore, the system of near real-time data reception of the Earth from space should be omnipresent, providing for a simple, inexpensive and quick access to the series of images of one and the same area.
Until recently only limited groups of specialists enjoyed the access to the Earth images from space. Cutting-edge technology allows for the acquisition of satellite images of the Earth directly to personal computers, whereas up-to-date software enables to easily and quickly process and store this data electronically, which makes it accessible for the widest possible range of users. Satellite images become day-to-day sources of unbiased information, helping to resolve a variety of tasks in different areas of human activities. Some examples are demonstrated in this section of our site below.
