Krasnoyarsk was founded in 1628 as a Russian border fort. Today it is the easternmost million city in Russia and the third largest city in Siberia.

Central Stadium of Krasnoyarsk and the Palace of Sports are located on the Island of Rest, which can be seen in the center if the image.

Kommunalniy pedestrian and road bridge across the Yenisei River is a perfect example of the Stalinist Empire style. The bridge is depicted on the front of the Russian ten ruble banknote. Traffic on the bridge was open in 1961.
