The city of Votkinsk can be seen on the image received on May 23, 2018 from the GeoEye-1 satellite.
Votkinsk is located near Izhevsk on the shores of an artificial pond that arose at the confluence of three rivers.
Votkinsk owes its origin to the decree of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna from 1757 on the construction of iron works on the river Votka. The art of craftsmen who worked at the factory was famous throughout Russia. Votkinsky plant was one of the first in Russia to start producing locomotives. And in the post-war period, the plant began a period of rocketry.
Now Votkinsk is a large center of machine-building, defense, timber processing industry.
Votkinsk is the birthplace of the Russian composer P.I. Tchaikovsky. Every year a traditional festival is held here, which attracts musicians from all over the world.
