On the image: Nenets Nature Reserve

The territory of the Nenets Nature Reserve can be seen on the image received from SPOT 7 satellite on August 17, 2017.

Nenets Nature Reserve is located beyond the Arctic Circle in the Nenets Autonomous Area — the most sparsely populated subject of the Russian Federation. It is washed by the waters of the Barents and Pechora Seas. The air temperature in winter can drop to -46 °C. Here, the only subarctic and arctic tundra plains in Europe remain intact.

On the territory of the reserve there is Kumzhinskoye gas fiels, which was mothballed after the accident in the early 1980s.
