The image of the Anadyr Estuary and Anadyr port town was received on August 15, 2017 from SPOT 6 satellite.
Anadyr is located in the extreme north-east of Russia. It is the administrative center of the Chukotka Autonomous Region. The population is more than 15 thousand people.
In 1889, Russian military doctor and polar explorer Leonid Grinevetsky laid the post of Novo-Mariinsk, from which the city of Anadyr began to develop. In the late 1950s, a seaport was built on the shore of the estuary.
Anadyr Airport is located on the eastern side of the Anadyr estuary in the village of Ugolnye Kopi. Near the town, on the Cape of Observation, one of the largest wind power plants in Russia can be seen.
